“It is always special to be able to wear the Maple Leaf, and it is a true honor to be named captain for the world championship,” Chabot said. “Our entire team is excited to play for Canada, and we will represent the country with pride as we look to defend last year’s gold medal.” Chabot had seven goals and 38 points in 59 contests this season. This is his first time wearing the "C" for Team Canada. His last appearance with Canada was in the 2019 Worlds. He had two goals and seven points in 10 contests en route to a silver medal.

Thomas Chabot (hand) has resumed skating and could play before the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
Chabot suffered a fracture in his hand back on Mar. 16. Coach D.J. Smith hopes that the Senators defender may be able to get into a game or two before the end of the regular season. The team will wait and see how he progresses, but time is running out with only seven matches remaining.
