Steven Kampfer has signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings.
Kampfer spent the 2021-22 season with Ak Bars Kazan of the Kontinental Hockey League, while posting 11 goals and 30 points in 46 games. He also had two goals and four points in six postseason matches. Kampfer has 231 games of NHL experience. while earning 39 points.

Kampfer posted two goals and five points in 20 games with Boston during the 2020-21 season. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent later this month.
Steven Kampfer still expects to need 2.5 more weeks to recovery from hand surgery.
Kampfer tore a ligament in his hand in early March and had surgery three weeks ago. He is pending unrestricted free agent and wants to keep playing in the NHL. There were rumors that he signed to play in the KHL, but he confirmed those were false. Kampfer added that he has received offers from the KHL and other leagues.
Boston GM Don Sweeney said Monday that Steven Kampfer is recovering from hand surgery.
Kampfer won't be available for the remainder of Boston's playoff run. Coach Bruce Cassidy said on Sunday that Kampfer would not be available to the team moving forward because of an arm injury.
