Sean Couturier (upper body) thinks he'll get medical clearance soon.
The Flyers season is over, but that will still help him to hopefully train regularly during the summer and be ready for the 2022-23. Couturier didn't play past Dec. 18 due to injury.
Sean Couturier will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season following successful back surgery.
Couturier hasn't played since Dec. 18 due to what was initially described as an upper-body injury. He is expected to recover in three months, so he should have a normal offseason leading into a return next year. Couturier will conclude 2021-22 with six goals, 17 points, 79 shots and 22 hits in 29 appearances.
Sean Couturier (upper body) was on the ice Wednesday.
Couturier was wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt during his solo session and there is still no timetable in place for his return to the lineup. "They're both working hard," said Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher of Couturier and Ryan Ellis. "I think it could go either way with both players. There's a chance they could come back this year and there's a chance that they will need procedures that will take them out for the rest of the season. We're trying to do everything we can to avoid surgery in both cases."
Sean Couturier (upper body) and Ryan Ellis (lower body) still don't have timetables in place for their returns.
"I really don't have a timeline for them to even get on the ice as far as even getting into non-contact drills, even just to begin skating, let alone the conditioning and everything else that goes along with it," coach Mike Yeo said on Sunday. "I can't even begin to guess at what time that is. Obviously the first step is to get a timeline as far as when we can start to expect them on the ice, and then from there we can determine when they're going to be ready to play." Couturier has been sidelined since Dec. 18, while Ellis has played one game since Oct 20.
