Rickard Rakell has signed a six-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The deal has an average annual value of $5 million. "Rickard proved that he is a great addition to our team this season," said Penguins GM Ron Hextall. "He brings versatility and offense to our lineup, and we know he will be an impactful player for us going forward." Rakell had 20 goals and 41 points in 70 games with Anaheim and Pittsburgh last season along with 184 shots, 44 blocks and 99 hits.

"It was a great experience for me," Rakell said of his time with the Penguins. "I've learned a lot from the players and coaches here. I feel like this team had a lot of potential. This is definitely a place I would like to come back to and where I think I can take my game to the next level, as well." Rakell was acquired by the Penguins from Anaheim. He went on to score four goals and 13 points in 19 contests with the Penguins during the regular season, but was only able to play in two postseason contests due to injury.

Rakell skated alongside Evgeni Malkin and Kasperi Kapanen during the pregame warmups. He had been out since the series opener back on May 3.

Rakell was not on the ice for Pittsburgh's optional morning skate after he took part in Saturday's session. He has been sidelined since the series opener back on May 3, but he has been making progress. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until warmups to know if he is playing or not.
