Pavel Francouz stopped 30-of-35 shots in Colorado's 6-5 overtime win over Edmonton.
While Francouz certainly has had better games, he did enough for his sixth straight win in the playoffs. The backup goalie played well in relief of the injured Darcy Kuemper but expect to see Kuemper back between the pipes for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Pavel Francouz will start Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against Edmonton on Monday night.
Francouz will get a third straight start, but Darcy Kuemper will return to the lineup on Monday from an upper-body injury and suit up the backup goalie. He has stopped 51 of 53 shots in the past two contests versus the Oilers, which were both victories. Francouz has a 5-0 record this postseason with a 2.37 GAA and .920 SV% in five appearances.
Pavel Francouz stopped 27-of-29 attempts in Saturday's 4-2 Game 3 win over the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Finals.
With Darcy Kuemper sitting this one out due to an upper-body injury sustained in a Game 1 win, Francouz received a second consecutive postseason start on Saturday. His performance did not quite rise to the level of Game 2's shutout showing, but it was an impressive one nonetheless, with the high-powered Oiler offense only managing two goals, by Connor McDavid and Ryan McLeod in the first and third periods, respectively. McLeod's goal did tie up the game at 2-2 seven-plus minutes into the third period, but the Avalanche responded with two unanswered goals down the stretch to beef up to a 3-0 series lead. They'll go for the knockout blow and the sweep in Game 4 on Monday.
Pavel Francouz will play between the pipes in Game 3.
Darcy Kuemper is dealing with an upper-body injury, but Francouz is a solid alternative for Colorado. Francouz is coming off a 24-save shutout over Edmonton in Game 2. He's 4-0 with a 2.48 GAA and .917 save percentage in four playoff games this year.
