Paul Byron's availability for training camp is unclear following a minor procedure this offseason.
I"t's a possibility [that he could miss training camp]. We don't know 100 percent. I know he underwent a minor procedure, and it takes time to see how it responds to an injection," said Canadiens GM Ken Hughes on Thursday. "We're waiting to see how his body responds to that. There's a risk that he won't be ready come September." Byron was limited to 27 games during the 2021-22 season.
Paul Byron (lower body) won't play on Thursday against Philadelphia.
Byron left Tuesday's game because of a lower-body injury that he has apparently been trying to play through. Rafael Harvey-Pinard, who was called up from the minors on Wednesday, will replace Byron in the lineup.
Paul Byron exited Tuesday's game because of a lower-body injury.
Byron logged just 4:41 of ice time prior to leaving Montreal's contest against Minnesota. "It's hard, and I think he fights every day to keep playing this year because he wants to be with the team," coach Martin St. Louis said. "He just has an injury that's been bugging him for a while and he's trying to fight through it. He's a tough player, he's a great player, and it's tough not having him at 100 percent.”
Paul Byron (undisclosed) will draw back in the lineup on Tuesday.
Byron played on Friday, but was scratched on Saturday due to some cumulative wear-and-tear. He has four goals and seven points in 26 contests in 2021-22.
