The Avalanche won the 2022 Stanley Cup Final in Game 6 on Sunday following a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. "I honestly feel bad for [Pierre-Edouard] Bellemare, [Riley] Nash, [Nicholas] Paul, [Brandon] Hagel, [Brian] Elliott ... 'Perrs,'" Maroon said. "We owe them one and hopefully we'll be back next year and have a better feeling than this. This one stings because of what our guys battled through every single day," he said. "The injuries ... and some people counted us out of being here. This one stings the most." Maroon won the Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues in 2019 prior to lifting the trophy as a member of the Lightning in 2020 and 2021.   

“Obviously, it’s a tough loss, but the good thing is we’re still playing hockey. We haven’t lost yet,” Maroon said. “It’s the first one to get to four wins right now, and we’ve got a little challenge in front of us. But if there’s one team that can do it, it’s this team, so I think we feel pretty confident.” The Lightning's chances for a three-peat are hanging by a thread, but they can keep their hopes alive by winning on Friday. The contest will be in Colorado though, where they haven't won yet in this series.

Not only was Maroon effective on the scoresheet but his feisty play upset the Avalanche on almost every shift. Maroon also ended the game with 12 penalty minutes as he took a misconduct with 2:12 left in the third. Maroon has four goals and six points in the Stanley Cup playoffs as he attempts to win his fourth straight Stanley Cup.

Maroon got the scoring started just 2:38 minutes into the game. It was his third goal and fourth point in 15 playoff contests this year.
