Ondrej Kase has signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes worth $1.5 million.

The Maple Leafs announced that Kase's absence was for a personal matter and coach Sheldon Keefe reiterated after the skate that the Toronto forward would be ready to play. Kase, who has two assists and three shots in the series, is projected to play alongside John Tavares and William Nylander.
