Aube-Kubel didn't receive a qualifying offer from Colorado, which made him a free agent. He had 11 goals, 23 points, 47 penalty minutes, 87 shots and 140 hits in 74 games last season for Philadelphia and Colorado. 

That makes Aube-Kubel a free agent on Wednesday. Aube-Kubel became noted Stanley Cup winning night when he accidently dropped the Cup, denting it. He had 11 goals and 22 points in 67 regular season games for Colorado and failed to pick up a point in 14 playoff games. He is a bottom-six forward for most teams in the NHL.

Aube-Kubel was skating with the Cup and as the Avalanche were getting ready for the team photo, Aube-Kubel skated and dropped the Cup to the ice, denting it. It was not the first time that the Stanley Cup has been damaged and it certainly will not be the last.

Aube-Kubel took part in the pregame warmups, but he was not part of line rushes. He will return to the press box with Nazem Kadri slated to return to the lineup against Tampa Bay.
