Rielly was the only member of the Leafs to break Andrei Vasilevskiy's spell, scoring on the star netminder with under seven minutes remaining in the second period and tying up the game in the process. Toronto was unable to develop any momentum off that one goal, though, and when Nick Paul scored to put the Lightning up just minutes later, the Maple Leafs were unable to answer. Rielly scored three goals in the series and was held point-less just twice in seven games. The 28-year-old defenseman is coming off the best season of his career point-wise, having tallied 68 points in 82 games during the 2021-22 campaign.

Rielly tied the game at 2-2 just 3:01 into the third period. He had one shot and one hit in the match. Reilly has two goals and five points through five games in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs. 

It was Rielly's first goal of the playoffs and third point in three games as he gave the Leafs a 1-0 lead in a game they would go onto win 5-2. Rielly is the Maple Leafs top offensive defenseman and should have been drafted quite high in pools to anyone who hoped the Leafs would make a deep run into the playoffs.

Rielly did all of his damage in the second half of Game 1. He picked up the primary helper on Mitch Marner’s goal (4-0) and he added a helper on Auston Matthews’ second tally of the game (5-0). The Leafs defender had 68 points in 82 games during the regular season, which means he should be a valuable piece of the puzzle in all fantasy leagues if the Leafs go on a long playoff run. Right now, they have a 1-0 lead in this best-of-seven series. Game 2 will be in Toronto on Wednesday.
