Grzelcyk had the surgery on Friday and he is expected to need about five months to recover. That could make him unavailable until November. Grzelcyk had four goals, 24 points, 118 shots, 83 blocks and 40 hits in 73 matches this past season. 

Grzelcyk sustained the injury during the regular season. He eventually sat out the final two games of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. A timetable for his return is unclear at the moment, but he may not be ready for the start of the 2022-23 campaign. 

Coach Bruce Cassidy indicated on Thursday that Grzelcyk was banged up, but the defenseman was listed as a healthy scratch for Game 6. He will sit again on Saturday, so we will consider him as day-to-day for now. 

"Grizz is playing through a little bit of stuff, we know that. He has been throughout the year," coach Bruce Cassidy said. "We've given him certain nights to recover and we just feel that now is one of those times that we're gonna do that again." He is being called a healthy scratch despite being banged up, so we will keep him as active for now and let you know if that changes. Hampus Lindholm will return to the lineup in Grzelcyk's place.
