Couture is signed through 2026-27 and given that he's 33-years-old, his existing contract could conceivably last until the end of his playing career. In other words, if he wanted to leave the Sharks in the hopes of winning a Cup elsewhere, he'd have to request to be traded. That's not something he's interested in though. "I signed a contract here for a long time. I was drafted here. I love this place. I love the fans here. I love living here," Couture said. "I’m very fortunate and very grateful that I get to play for this organization. I’ve said this many times, the fan base here is incredible to myself, my family. I can’t see myself playing anywhere else."

Couture suffered a bruised lung after he was struck by the puck last Thursday in a game against Edmonton. He wasn't able to play on Saturday, but he is projected to be in the lineup on Wednesday night. Couture has 21 goals, 47 points, 157 shots and 78 hits in 60 games this season. 

Couture suffered a bruised lung after he was struck by a Brent Burns slapshot last Thursday in a game against Edmonton. He said he coughed up blood after he came off the ice and it was feared that he had a punctured lung. However, the injury wasn't that severe and Couture was able to travel with the team back home. He appears to be on track to play on Wednesday.
