Kevin Hayes of the Philadelphia Flyers has been named a finalist for the Bill Masterton Trophy.
Hayes had a difficult year as he lost his brother Jimmy over the summer and then underwent abdominal surgery at the start of training camp. He also had a blood infection. Hayes had 10 goals and 31 points in 48 games for Philadelphia this season.

It’s been a tough year for Hayes, as he’s missed an extended period of time with abdomen/adductor injuries. He finally managed to hit the 10-goal mark on Monday night. His goal in this game cut the Flyers’ deficit to 2-1 with just under 12 minutes to go in the first period, but they were never able to complete the comeback. Scott Laughton and Travis Konecny picked up the assists on Philadelphia’s only goal of the game. Hayes now has 31 points in 46 games this season.
