Joel Farabee underwent successful disc replacement surgery in his cervical region on Friday.
Farabee is expected to make a full recovery in three-to-four months. It's the same procedure that Jack Eichel and Tyler Johnson underwent. That timetable could make him unavailable for the first few weeks of the 2022-23 season. Farabee accounted for 17 goals, 34 points, 119 shots and 73 hits in 63 games this past campaign.
Joel Farabee will not be going to the World Hockey Championships for Team USA.
While Farabee was asked to participate, he wants to rehab his shoulder and give it more time to rest as he wants to be ready for the start of the 2022-23 season. Farabee had 17 goals and 34 points in 63 games this season, a slight drop from the 20 goals and 38 points in 55 games as a sophomore last season for the Flyers.
Joel Farabee scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
Farabee got the scoring started early in the contest, putting in a goal against Craig Anderson just a minute-plus into the first period. An Owen Tippett goal just minutes later would put the Flyers up by a 2-0 score, but they would be outscored 4-1 over the remainder of the contest. Overall this season, Farabee has posted 17 goals and 34 points across 56 games played. Farabee had gone four straight games without a goal prior to putting one home on Saturday.
Joel Farabee (illness) was on the ice for Monday's practice.
Farabee skated alongside Kevin Hayes and Cam Atkinson during the session. He didn't play on Saturday against Anaheim due to an illness, but should be expected to return to the fold on Tuesday versus Washington. The Flyers assigned Hayden Hodgson to the minors on Sunday.
