Pittsburgh has signed Jan Rutta to a three-year contract.
The deal carries an average annual value of $2.75 million. Rutta had three goals, 18 points, 86 shots, 71 blocks and 93 hits in 76 games during the 2021-22 season with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Tampa Bay GM Julien BriseBois didn't have an update on the contract status of pending UFA Jan Rutta on Sunday.
However, BriseBois said he intends to speak with Rutta's agent in the coming days. Tampa Bay is looking to bring back the blueliner, who will turn 32 years of age later this month, after freeing up some cap space by trading Ryan McDonagh to Nashville. In 76 games last season, Rutta posted three goals, 18 points, 86 shots, 71 blocks and 93 hits.
Jan Rutta scored a goal in a 3-2 win for Tampa Bay on Friday in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final against Colorado.
Rutta opened the scoring at the 15:23 mark of the first period. He had four assists in 15 games this postseason going into Friday's contest. Rutta had two goals and one helper over 23 matches during the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Jan Rutta registered two assists in a 4-1 win against the Rangers in Game 4 Tuesday night.
Rutta has three assists in nine playoff games in 2022. During the regular season, he scored three goals and 18 points in 76 games.
