Rodrigues assisted on Danton Heinen's goal near the end of the first period before scoring one of his own against Igor Shesterkin late in the second period. His goal was a beaut, too, coming on a breakaway opportunity. It gave Pittsburgh a 3-2 lead and very nearly ended up serving as the go-ahead winner before New York roared back with goals in the third period and overtime to end the Penguins' season. Rodrigues finished the seven-game series having posted five total points.  

Rodrigues will center the second line between Kasperi Kapanaen and Danton Heinen and he will see action on the top power-play combination because of Sidney Crosby's absence due to injury. Evgeni Malkin will move up to the top line. 

It was a special night for Rodrigues who picked up his first three points of the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs. A goal and an assist came on the power play as Rodrigues has been playing on the second unit. It was a fine game for Rodrigues who got off to a great start when the Penguins were missing both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin to start the season and then he morphed into a strong bottom-six player. Rodrigues had career best in 19 goals and 24 assists this season.

Rodrigues left Tuesday's game due to a non-COVID illness and he didn't take part in the morning skate, but he will play against the Islanders.
