New Jersey got Erik Haula from the Boston Bruins in exchange for Pavel Zacha.
Haula scored 18 goals and 44 points in 78 contests in 2021-22. He has one year left on his contract at $2,375,000 and after that he can become an unrestricted free agent. The Devils are getting the veteran option in this swap, but Haula will probably work out to be cheaper next season than Zacha, who is a RFA.
Erik Haula scored the game-winning goal in a 5-2 victory against Carolina in Game 6 Thursday night.
It was Haula's first goal and third point of the first round series. He had 18 goals and 44 points in 78 contests during the regular season.
Erik Haula logged an assist in Tuesday's 5-1 Game 5 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Haula picked up his second assist of the postseason when he dished for a helper on Connor Clifton's goal midway through the third period. The Bruins would be unable to find further offense in the 5-1 defeat. Haula's earlier assist in the aeries came during a Game 1 loss. Game 6 drops on Thursday with the Bruins now set to face elimination.
Erik Haula won't play on Friday against Toronto.
The Bruins will be resting plenty of players ahead of the postseason, including David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, Taylor Hall, Matt Grzelcyk, Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm.
