Dominik Kubalik has inked a two-year, $5 million contract by the Detroit Red Wings.
Kubalik didn't get a qualifying offer from Chicago, which made him an unrestricted free agent. He had 15 goals and 32 points in 78 contests in 2021-22.
Dominik Kubalik is not expected to receive a qualifying offer from the Chicago Blackhawks, according to what Mark Lazerus of The Athletic is hearing.
The decision doesn't come as much of a surprise, as there had been speculation that Kubalik would be cut loose by the team. He will be eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 13 if he doesn't receive a qualifying offer from Chicago. It is also expected that Dylan Strome won't get a qualifying offer ahead of Monday's deadline.
Dominik Kubalik, who is eligible for restricted free agency, isn't sure about his future with the Chicago Blackhawks.
"I think it's going to be obviously a conversation with my agent after the season," said Kubalik. "What does Chicago want or what do they expect or which way do I want to go." Kubalik, who scored his 13th goal of the season on Saturday, has been in and out of the lineup recently as a healthy scratch. He has 27 points and 148 shots in 71 appearances.
Dominik Kubalik will be a healthy scratch during Thursday's game against the Sharks.
This is the third straight game he'll watch from the press box. He has 12 goals and 14 points in 70 games this season. Tyler Johnson, Henrik Borgstrom, Erik Gustafsson and Caleb Jones will also be scratched.
