David Perron has signed a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings.
The deal has an average annual value of $4.75 million. Perron racked up 27 goals, 57 points, 177 shots and 80 hits in 67 games for St. Louis during the 2021-22 season. He should provide the top-six forward group of the Red Wings with a jolt.
David Perron is expected to test the free-agent market this week.
St. Louis is facing a cap crunch and the team reportedly doesn't have the space at this time to make an offer that would entice Perron to sign. It doesn't sound like a return to the Blues has been ruled out, but Perron is poised to listen to other offers on Wednesday when the market opens.
David Perron's agent, Allan Walsh, has been encouraged by contract talks with the St. Louis Blues.
"We’ve had good conversations with Doug (Armstrong) and will continue speaking over the coming days," said Walsh on Wednesday. Perron is eligible for unrestricted free agency on July 13, but both sides have expressed interest in a contract extension.
The St. Louis Blues have interest in bringing back David Perron.
Perron is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He's been playing on a four-year, $16 million contract that has worked out very well for the team. He had 27 goals and 57 points in 67 contests in 2021-22. He'll probably get a raise, but given that he's 34-years-old, his next contract probably won't be any longer than his last one.
