"The early sense is Wheeler may be willing to consider a proposed destination that also is not on his list, if it’s a proper fit for his family and career," said Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff. His full no-move clause changes to a five-team list soon. Wheeler still has two seasons left on his five-year, $41.25 million contract. 

Wheeler potted Winnipeg's first goal of the game with just 13 seconds remaining in the first period. That set the stage for two more goals as they finish off their season with a win, although it will not lessen any of the disappointment that will come with the result on the season for the Jets. Wheeler finished the campaign with 16 goals and 59 points through 64 games. 

With the game tied at 1-1 midway through the third period, Wheeler struck for a decisive go-ahead goal against Darcy Kuemper. On the whole this season, Wheeler has tallied 14 goals and 56 points across 62 games played. The numbers are fine, though well shy of what the 35-year-old Wheeler has offered up at his statistical peak over the past decade.

Wheeler returned to the ice for practice on Thursday after he sat out the past three games due to an upper-body injury. Coach Dave Lowry said after the session that Wheeler would return on Friday night. He skated alongside Kyle Connor and Pierre-Luc Dubois during the session.
