Andre Burakovsky has signed a five-year contract with the Seattle Kraken.
The deal has an average annual value of $5.5 million. Burakovsky posted personal bests in 2021-22 as a member of the Colorado Avalanche with 22 goals and 61 points in 80 games.
Andre Burakovsky's agent, Kevin Epp, "says his client appears to be heading to market Wednesday," per Pierre LeBrun.
Epp added that he expects to hear back from Colorado before Wednesday. Burakovsky could be looking to cash in after he posted personal bests in 2021-22 with 22 goals and 61 points in 80 games.
Contract talks between Andre Burakovsky and the Colorado Avalanche "have been quiet," according to a league source.
However, the source also said that Burakovsky is still open to a return to the Avalanche. He will be eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 13 if a new deal isn't worked out in the coming days.
Andre Burakovsky was able to play through a broken ankle before breaking his thumb finally forced him on the sidelines.
Burakovsky broke his ankle in Game 2 of the Western Conference Final, but was able to play in Game 4 of that series and Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. He even scored the overtime winner in Game 1 despite his injury. He provided another goal and assist in Game 2 of the finals, but he broke his thumb in four places while blocking a shot. He needed surgery on his thumb. Despite that, he still tried to return for Games 5 and 6, but understandably the pain was too great. “I was at least giving it a chance. We tried doing everything — cast, numbing my thumb every single day to try to get it right,” Burakovsky said.
