2024 Player Outlook

The Panthers drafted Jonathon Brooks with the 46th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. This comes as Brooks works his way back from an ACL injury that ended his 2023 season at Texas. Expectations are that Brooks will be ready to go for the start of the 2024 but could be in a limited role as they build up the conditioning and strength in his surgically repaired knee. That said, there isn't much in front of him on the depth chart that would keep him from a larger role if he looks like the player he was in college as Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders figure to share some of the early workload while Brooks gets ready. From an offensive standpoint, this is another rebuilding year for the Panthers who have another new head coach and new offensive coordinator. The team did have success running the football at times last season with Chuba Hubbard and its difficult to envision Brooks coming in and completely taking over the backfield. If I was setting expectations I would say take a look at Zach Charbonnet in Seattle and Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit last year as what the high and low end of the spectrum could look like where Charbonnet was firmly planted behind Kenneth Walker while Gibbs got opportunities, especially in the second half of the season to shine.
