Bears placed CB Jaylon Jones on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
Four members of the Bears’ secondary are currently dealing with injuries and Jones’ shoulder issue was bad enough to land him on injured reserve. These secondary injuries, coupled with the loss of difference-making DT Andrew Billings, make the Bears’ defense a far more fantasy-friendly unit. The team “signed S Tarvarius Moore to the active roster and added DB JT Woods to the practice squad,” per The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain, in corresponding moves.
Bears CB Jaylon Jones exited Week 9 against the Cardinals with an apparent injury.
Jones was seen being escorted to the locker room by Bears trainers. Jones is a capable backup and the Bears cannot afford to lose another defensive back at this point. The unit is very nearly one to target entering Week 10. Hopefully, Jones is able to return next week.
Colts drafted Texas A&M DB Jaylon Jones with the No. 221 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Jones (6â??2/200) is a former blue-chip five-star safety recruit who moved to CB shortly after arriving in College Station and became an instant starter. The stretched-out DB allowed a 53% completion rate over the last two seasons, despite being largely avoided in 2022 with just 19 passes being thrown his way in 601 total snaps. His 4.57s 40-yard dash is certifiably sluggish by modern outside corner standards (47th%) as was a 4.48s shuttle (45th%), but his 6.88s 3-Cone (78th%) and 38â? vertical (84th%) were both strong marks for a solid 8.79 RAS. His filled-out frame allows Jones to establish leverage and put hands on receivers at the line. His advanced route cognition allows Jones to stay in the pocket of receivers downfield, allowing just one reception of more than 20 yards in 2022. Speed could limit him in the NFL, as he tends to play off to make up for his limitations. With his size and physical style of play, Jones could be asked to return to safety if he wants to earn a starting NFL job.
