Broncos waived WR Montrell Washington.
The Broncos selected Washington in the fifth round of last year’s draft after the speedy receiver put together a solid career at Samford University. Despite strong athleticism and good playmaking abilities, Washington was unable to stick around on a Broncos roster that’s been hurt at receiver early this year. In addition to Washington, the Broncos also cut OL Henry Byrd.
Mile High Report's Tim Lynch says that Broncos WR Montrell Washington "continues to shine."
With the unfortunate season-ending injury to Tim Patrick, Washington will get an even bigger chance to crack the Broncos' receiving rotation. Coach Nathaniel Hackett praised Washington's work ethic and said that it has put him into a position to earn playing time. That, combined with his speed, hands and ability to come down with the deep ball from Russell Wilson has put the coaching staff and team on notice.
