Bills signed WR Khalil Shakir to a four-year contract extension.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal is worth “up to” $60.2 million with $32 million guaranteed at signing. Shakir is now under contract through 2029. He was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise underwhelming Buffalo receiver room last year. Shakir totaled 821 yards and four scores on 76 grabs. He easily led the team in catches and yards while falling one touchdown shy of Mack Hollins. Shakir is best deployed as a No. 2 and the Bills may continue to address their receiving corps this offseason, but keeping him in town was obviously a priority for the team as he headed into a contract year. Shakir will be a boom-bust WR3 for fantasy purposes this year.

Khalil Shakir caught 6-of-7 targets for 46 yards in Buffalo’s AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs.

A Josh Allen cannonball in zone coverage landed on Shakir’s shoulder for 24 yards, but he was otherwise mostly limited to slants’n’screens in Joe Brady’s passing game. Shakir enters the final year of his rookie contract in 2025 as Buffalo’s clear No. 1 wideout, finishing with a 76/821/4 line in just 15 games. He’ll probably be a safe bet to be Buffalo’s main weapon in the passing game in 2025 barring a delayed Dalton Kincaid breakout, but the Bills aren’t going to pass enough for him to be more than a low-end WR2. Shakir’s likely best viewed as a WR3 heading into 2025.

Khalil Shakir caught 6-of-7 targets for 67 yards in the Bills’ AFC Divisional Round win over the Ravens.

Shakir is the only Bills’ pass catcher to tally more than three receptions and/or 15 receiving yards, functioning as Allen’s clear-cut most trusted receiver. Shakir’s best play occurred on the Bills’ first offensive drive when he snuck past his coverage defender on a seam-stretching route before spinning around in time to make a leaping catch over the trailing Raven’s head. A few plays later, Shakir made a key block that preserved a rushing lane for Ray Davis on the latter’s two-yard touchdown. Shakir was expected to handle punt return duties with KR/PR Brandon Codrington (hamstring) inactive but the Ravens never punted. Shakir will play a key role against the Chiefs next week.

Khalil Shakir caught 6-of-6 targets for 61 yards in the Bills’ Wild Card win over the Broncos.

The season is now post, but Shakir remained the Bills’ primary chain-mover. He was out-gained by Curtis Samuel thanks to a fourth quarter, catch-and-run 55-yard TD. An impressive compiler for months now, Shakir will be Divisional Round rematching with a Ravens team he got for a modest 4/62 in Week 4.
