Lions GM Brad Holmes said the team is open to exploring an extension for S Kerby Joseph this offseason.
The Lions selected Joseph in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The third-year safety who was snubbed from the Pro Bowl is fresh off his first All-Pro season, in which he snagged a league-high nine interceptions while also totaling 83 tackles. He has one year remaining on his rookie contract, but the Lions are understandably open to securing him to a long-term deal this offseason. Holmes said an extension for Joseph is “on the docket in terms of — to be looked at and discussed,” so it doesn’t sound like an extension is imminent. Still, with other top players — like Aidan Hutchinson — also due a new deal soon, it would be wise for the Lions to get Joseph under contract before worrying about other deals.
