Claimed off the Texans' practice squad last October, McCollum ended up suiting up for 13 games, starting one. He just turned 24 yers old. It's a zero-risk move for the Lions, but they could have non-tendered McCollum if they did not like what they saw in 2021. Perhaps he will push for a bigger role in 2022. ERFA LB Rashod Berry has also been tendered for $750,000. 

The Lions sniped him from Houston's practice squad to add depth at the offensive line. Detroit is suddenly thin in the trenches with Taylor Decker and Frank Ragnow expected to miss Week 5 and potentially beyond. McCollum is simply a depth piece at the moment.
