Brock Wright was not targeted in the Lions’ Divisional Round loss to the Commanders.
The Lions matched a three-year, $12 million offer sheet from the 49ers on Wright in the offseason, keeping him in Detroit for the foreseeable future. While he’s a valuable blocker, Wright rarely saw the ball in his fourth season, catching 13 passes for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He is a valuable backup for the Lions but doesn’t bring anything to the table for fantasy purposes.
Brock Wright caught his only targets for five yards and a touchdown in the Lions’ Week 11 win over the Jaguars.
Wright drew the start with Sam LaPorta sidelined but didn’t have a stat to his name entering halftime. He broke free of his defender on a goal line throw from Jared Goff late in the third quarter for his only catch of the day. The touchdown saved a disastrous spot-start for fantasy managers who looked to him as a TE2. Said managers should take their winning and call it a day before finding a better streaming option for Week 12.
Brock Wright caught all four of his targets for 34 yards in the Lions’ Week 3 win over the Cardinals.
Wright is primarily a blocker but could be in line for a larger role next week. Sam LaPorta suffered a sprained ankle late in the first half versus Arizona. He labored through the injury during the second half and his status for Week 4 is now up in the air. Wright would enter the TE2 mix if LaPorta is ruled out, but we aren’t likely to get concrete information on his status until later in the week. Fantasy managers should not be spending much FAAB or burning their waiver priority to acquire Wright.
Lions re-signed TE Brock Wright to a three-year, $12 million contract.
The Lions tendered Wright, a restricted free agent, at the start of the offseason. The tender let Wright find a better offer on the open market but gave Detroit the right of first refusal to match any contract. San Francisco surprisingly stepped in with a solid deal for a backup tight end, but the Lions have chosen to match the contract, keeping Wright in Detroit. He will return for a mix of TE2 and special teams duties in 2024.
