Surtain was a full participant in practice to close the week, so this was always the likely outcome. He suffered the shoulder injury in the second half of Denver's Week 2 win over Houston. After exiting, Surtain was subsequently ruled out. Surtain will spend much of his Sunday covering Deebo Samuel.

Broncos CB Patrick Surtain (shoulder) is considered day-to-day after Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Texans.
Surtain left in the second quarter of Sunday's game and did not return. However, tests on his shoulder did not show anything significant, which is good news for a Broncos secondary that's already lost safety Justin Simmons. We'll get more information on Surtain's Week 3 status throughout the week, but it sounds like he's already trending in the right direction.
Broncos CB Patrick Surtain (shoulder) left Week 2 against the Texans and was ruled out.
Trainers attended to Surtain after the Texans got a field goal to take a 6-3 lead. Surtain is one of the brightest star corners in the NFL and this is a big loss for a Denver secondary that is already light safety Justin Simmons. He was ruled out shortly after halftime and this could be a big loss for the Denver D/ST.
