Chargers re-signed DT Teair Tart to a one-year, $5.5 million contract.
Tart racked up 20 tackles, 16 QB pressures and one sack in his first season with the Chargers last year. Both his tackle and sack totals are the second-best figures of his five-year career. The signing helps solidify a Chargers defensive line that recently released DE Joey Bosa.
Chargers signed DT Teair Tart, formerly of the Dolphins.
Tart was released by the Dolphins earlier this week after signing a one-year deal with them this offseason. The veteran lineman appeared in 13 games last season while splitting time between the Titans and the Texans. He totaled 24 tackles and eight TFLs but was a healthy scratch during the Texans’ playoff stretch. Tart, 27, isn’t a lock to make the Chargers’ 53-man roster.

Tart was a reliable run-stuffer for the Titans for three years before his relationship with the team fell apart as he sought a new contract. The Titans cut him in the middle of the season last year and he was picked up by Houston. He appeared in two regular season games for the Texans but was inactive for their postseason run. Tart had eight TFLs and one sack in 11 games for the Titans last year.
Bleacher Reports Jordan Schultz reports the Bengals are expected to meet with free agent DT Teair Tart.
Tart split time with the Titans and Texans last season after the Titans released the veteran tackle in December. Tart played in 13 games last season, totaling 17 tackles, eight TFLs, and one sack, and was a healthy scratch in both of the Texans’ playoff games. With 36 games of starting experience under his belt, Tart can provide a veteran presence to any defensive line and is only two years removed from a 2022 season in which he tallied 26 quarterback pressures.
