Davis generated some noise last offseason, with GM Brian Gutekunst going as far as to say, "I think we might have something there," when talking about the former sixth-round pick. With veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis all but gone this offseason, Davis will have a chance to earn a spot on the 53-man roster this offseason. Through 39 career games, Davis has caught eight passes for 61 scoreless yards.

Davis is a 25-year-old converted quarterback who was briefly forced into action by injury last year and caught four passes across 14 games. “I think we might have something there,” GM Brian Gutekunst said of Davis this spring. Coach Matt LaFleur thought Davis did a "hell of a job" getting up to speed on the offense in 2021, though LaFleur singled out Davis' special teams play for praise. Names like Davis are worth filing away in a targets-needy offense that is going to produce some unheralded heroes this season, but he still seems like an extreme long shot to actually make a pass-catching impact. 

Davis (6'4/243) was listed as The Athletic's Dane Brugler's TE44 in the 2020 draft class. He was well off the radar, but Davis will compete for a roster spot and special teams role this summer given his draft capital. As a senior at Georgia Tech, Davis compiled 17 receptions for 148 yards and one touchdown.
