Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said there’s a “good chance” CB Trevon Diggs (knee) “may not start for us when the season starts.”

Diggs underwent another surgery in January and is now further behind — we expect him to start on the PUP list and probably not play until October at the earliest. Ditto DeMarvion Overshown, as he was lumped into this answer by Jones. The Cowboys will make due with their former first-round reclamation projects on defense while two of their better defenders recover.

ESPN’s Todd Archer reports Trevon Diggs could miss “parts of training camp” after undergoing another knee surgery.

According to Archer, Diggs had chondral tissue graft surgery, which is a surgery that involves removing damaged cartilage and replacing it with a tissue graft. Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones said in December that he’s hopeful Diggs can return by the start of 2025 after it was announced he would be out for the season, but now, it sounds like his availability at the start of camp is officially in question. We’re months away from knowing how this could truly impact the upcoming season for Diggs, but it’s something to keep in mind as training camp draws closer this summer. There’s a good chance we’ll learn more on his recovery before then.

Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones said he thinks Trevon Diggs’ (knee) timeline for return is ‘right at the start of the season.”

Jones also said he didn’t think training camp would be a consideration for Diggs, who will undergo season-ending knee surgery in the coming days. According to Jones, Diggs’ injury is related to fluid and cartilage issues in his knee, but it is a new injury unrelated to the torn ACL he suffered last season. It’s too early to say for certain, but Diggs could be a prime candidate to open next season on the PUP list based on the loose timeline Jones is providing us. We’ll have a better sense of things as we draw closer to camp, but it would not be a surprise if Diggs missed games early into next season.

FOx’s Jay Glazer reports Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs will undergo season-ending surgery on his knee.

That escalated quickly. Diggs went from questionable to out in Week 15 to season-ending surgery in a matter of hours, with the issue reportedly a different issue than his previously torn ACL. The Cowboys managed just one game this season with all three starting cornerbacks on the field together.
