Colts released DT Raekwon Davis.

Davis signed a two-year deal with the Colts last offseason. The fifth-year tackle appeared in all 17 games but never made a start while playing on 349 defensive snaps, per PFF. Davis totaled just 15 tackles and one TFL while failing to record a sack, and has seen his tackle numbers decline each of the last three seasons. Davis doesn’t profile as an every-down tackle, but should have something to offer in the run game as a rotational player wherever he lands next.

Colts agreed to terms with DT Raekwon Davis, formerly of the Colts, on a two-year, $14 million contract.

It’s yet another blow for a Dolphins defensive line that also lost Christian Wilkins this week. That being said, 2020 second-rounder Davis spent most of his time in Miami mostly absorbing snaps as opposed to being a difference-maker. He was better under Vic Fangio in 2023 after earning horrendous Pro Football Focus marks in 2021-22. He nevertheless profiles as a rotational option in Indy as opposed to linchpin.

Dolphins placed DL Raekwon Davis on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Davis played just five snaps before suffering a knee injury in the Dolphins' Week 1 victory over the Patriots. It's a hit to Miami's run defense, as the second-year pro was arguably their best defensive lineman against the ground game. Davis is out for a minimum of three weeks. John Jenkins should fill his role in the meantime.

Dolphins signed second-round DT Raekwon Davis to a four-year contract.

The No. 56 overall pick, Davis (6’6/311) was a three-year starting defensive end at Alabama, earning first-team All-SEC honors as a sophomore (8.5 sacks, 10.0 TFLs) before a subsequent two-year regression. His lengthy frame is mostly a negative to his game and prevents him from winning with first-step burst as a pass-rusher, but his maturity and lack of production are bigger issues. He only totaled 2.0 sacks and 8.5 TFLs during his junior and senior seasons. If Davis buys in, he has the strength to be a quality run-stopping starter in the NFL, but he is a low-floor gamble considering how early he was picked last month.
