The former No. 27 overall pick did not have his fifth-year option picked up by the Seahawks, putting him on the open market after just four seasons. He has been a full-time starter for Seattle in each of the past three seasons. Brooks saw his snap count fall in 2023 but managed to break out as a pass-rusher, tallying 4.5 sacks. He entered the season with two career sacks. Brooks added 111 tackles, eight TFLs, and an interception to his stat line as well. He will slot in a starting role for the Dolphins defense in 2024.

With Kenneth Walker officially active, the Seahawks should have their full arsenal of weapons against an ailing Steelers’ defense. The Seahawks are looking to stay alive in the NFC playoff race.

Brooks left Week 16 with an ankle injury and now starts out this week with a DNP listing. It is his second time dealing with an ankle injury this season as he returned from a torn ACL from the year prior. DE Mario Edwards (knee), DE Dre’Mont Jones (shoulder), and LB Nick Bellore (knee) were also non-participants, leaving the Seahawks defense thin to start the week.

Brooks hurt his ankle late in the first quarter and went into the blue medical tent. On the first drive where he was replaced by Devin Bush, Titans TE Chig Okonkwo caught a touchdown pass. While that came on a trick play, this Seahawks defense will certainly miss Brooks over the middle of the field if he doesn’t return.
