D’Ernest Johnson rushed two times for 26 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 18 loss to the Colts.
Johnson saw some work as a passing-downs specialist, but his role waned in the back half of the season. He was even a healthy scratch for a few weeks before returning to the lineup in December. He finished the year with 239 yards on 44 touches. Johnson is a depth option on offense but also brings special teams expertise to the table. That should be enough to get him another one-year deal in free agency this spring.
Jaguars declared RB D’Ernest Johnson, DE Myles Cole, OL Javon Foster, DT Esezi Otomewo, and DT Jordan Jefferson inactive for week 15 against the Jets.
Johnson remains a healthy scratch, leaving a one-two punch of Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne in the backfield. Bigsby ran 18 times last week and is in line for an RB2 workload once again.
Jaguars declared RB D’Ernest Johnson, DE Myles Cole, OL Anton Harrison, WR Josh Reynolds, DT Esezi Otomewo, and DT Jordan Jefferson inactive for Week 14 against the Titans.
The Jaguars enter Week 14 with mostly healthy scratches. OL Anton Harrison will miss this week due to an illness. With Trevor Lawrence out once again, the Jaguars will play the Titans in what has become a race for the top draft pick.
D’Ernest Johnson rushed one time for three yards in the Jaguars’ Week 8 loss to the Packers, adding a 20-yard reception.
Although Travis Etienne (hamstring) remained sidelined, there was no backfield committee this time, as Tank Bigsby out-touched Johnson 20-2. That, frankly, is how it should be. Regardless of Etienne’s Week 9 status, Johnson could be needed for a little more pass-catching work because of the Jags’ injury carnage at wide receiver. It still won’t be enough to create PPR FLEX value.
