Seahawks released DT Bryan Mone.
Mone signed a two-year, $12 million extension with the Seahawks before the 2022 season. He suffered a torn ACL in December and missed all of the 2023 season. Mone totaled 25 tackles and two TFLs in 13 games in 2022. He was a rotational interior defender for Seattle for the better part of four seasons before the knee injury. Releasing him saves the Seahawks $5.4 million in cap space.
Seahawks NT Bryan Mone was forced from Seattle's Week 15 game against the 49ers with a knee injury and will not return.
Injured midway through the first quarter, Mone got his left leg bent up underneath him. He was quickly ruled out, which is always a poor sign. Post-game reports had Mone dealing with a "significant" ACL injury. Mone entered Week 15 having played 266 largely run-stuffing snaps.
Seahawks signed DL Bryan Mone to a two-year, $12 million extension through the 2024 season.
Mone's new deal includes a $1.5 million signing bonus, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. An exclusive-rights player who signed his tender in April, Mone now can earn up to $13.8 million with incentives. Mone, 26, had 1.5 sacks in five starts last season for Seattle, along with 35 tackles.
Mone was promoted to Seattle's 53-man roster Saturday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
The 24-year-old has spent most of the season on the Seahawks' practice squad but will make his way to the active roster for the closing stretch. Mone provides depth at defensive tackle with Al Woods beginning his four-game suspension Week 16.
