Panthers signed CB Chris Westry, formerly of the Ravens, to a one-year contract.
Westry, 24, was among a litany of Baltimore defenders who suffered major injuries in 2021. He tore his meniscus in Week 1 against the Raiders and missed most of the season. A big corner at 6'4", Westry should have a shot to start for Carolina in 2022. Pro Football Focus graded the Panthers secondary as the 16th best in 2021.
Ravens CB Chris Westry suffered a torn meniscus and is out indefinitely.
Westry played 33 snaps on Monday night against Vegas. He's the latest in a long line of Baltimore secondary injuries that has turned the usually-stout unit into one quarterbacks might be able to attack in 2021. The Ravens are looking into free agent CB Buster Skrine, who allowed 51 receptions on 65 targets in 2020 when he played for Chicago.
Westry (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, per the league's official transactions report.
Westry will remain on IR for the 2019 campaign barring an injury settlement. The nature of his injury remains unknown.
