Ballentine appeared in 15 games for the Packers last year and saw most of his reps on special teams. He got more run at outside corner in 2023, logging six starts and a 55 percent snap share across 14 games. Ballentine will play a depth role for the Colts this year.

Ballentine adds depth after playing 18 percent of snaps with the Giants. The Jets have allowed the fourth most pass yards in the league though nine weeks.

It's a surprise, as the No. 180 overall pick of last year's draft had been playing 15-25 weekly snaps on defense. Evidently they were not to the Giants' liking. Ballentine will presumably be stashed on the practice squad if he clears waivers, though it's also possible the G-Men are simply moving on from a player they don't view as part of their future. 

Ballentine only handled significant defensive snaps in six contest as a rookie, and he was limited to special teams to begin the year. The 2019 sixth-round pick stands to compete for a key role in the Giants' secondary during the offseason.
