Falcons signed LB Kaden Elliss, formerly of the Saints.
The Falcons hired former Saints co-defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen as their DC earlier in the offseason. In free agency, they have clearly made adding some of his former players to the roster a priority as well. Elliss is joining defensive tackle David Onymenata on the list of Saints who are making the move to Atlanta. A former seventh-round pick, Elliss was elevated to a larger role in 2022. He didn't disappoint, totaling seven sacks across 13 games, seven of which were starts. Elliss will look to continue his ascent on an Atlanta defense that is in desperate need of play-makers.
The Saints placed Elliss (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
Elliss suffered this injury during this past Sunday's win over the Seahawks. It's clearly a severe injury, as Elliss is likely out for the year. The rookie seventh-round pick was used heavily on special teams, and the Saints signed Stephone Anthony to fill the void.
Elliss (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game versus the Seahawks, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
The seventh-round rookie is learning the NFL ropes on special teams this year, so his absence will mainly hurt the defense's depth if he can't play in Week 4 versus the Cowboys.
Elliss is working with the starters in the Saints' base defense, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Elliss is still listed as the second-string middle linebacker on the depth chart -- likely since the team will heavily utilize their nickel defense over the base defense. Regardless, the rookie seventh-round pick appears to have made a good impression early in camp and could still carve out a nice workload as a reserve.
