Bears signed TE Tommy Sweeney.
The 28-year-old former Bill missed all of 2023 after suffering a practice field “medical event” with the Giants. His age, limited production history, and missed 2023 will impact his 53-man roster odds, but he has signed at the right time of the offseason to at least give himself a shot.
Giants signed TE Tommy Sweeney, formerly of the Bills.
A 27-year-old blocker, Sweeney has 18 career catches. He, of course, has experience in Brian Daboll's system after the two worked together in Buffalo. Despite the Giants' continued dearth of pass-catching threats, Sweeney's blocking career trajectory will not be changing in the Big Apple.
Bills declared TE Tommy Sweeney, DT DaQuan Jones, CB Christian Benford, OL Ike Boettger, LB Terrel Bernard, LB Baylon Spector, and S Jared Mayden inactive for their Divisional Round game against the Bengals.
Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips was listed as questionable with a shoulder issue and is inactive. With Sweeney being a healthy scratch, Quintin Morris will continue to serve as Dawson Knox's backup.
Buffalo declared TE Tommy Sweeney, OL Ike Boettger, OL Justin Murray, LB Baylon Spector, CB Christian Benford, and DB Jared Mayden inactive for Week 18 vs the Patriots.
Sweeney will miss his third straight, leaving Quintin Morris to back up Dawson Knox. Buffalo can lock up the No. 2 seed with a win in Week 18.
