Bears re-signed RB Travis Homer to a one-year, $2 million contract.
Homer contributes primarily to special teams but has flashed in limited rushing opportunities in previous seasons, making the signing a solid depth move that carries little risk financially. The backfield currently appears to have D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson forming a 1A-1B situation in Ben Johnson’s offense. Homer is not likely to find NFL carries next season without injuries in front of him.
Bears declared RB Travis Homer, OG Teven Jenkins, S Elijah Hicks, LB Noah Sewell, DT Zacch Pickens and DB Ameer Speed inactive for Week 18 against the Packers.
26-year-old Homer went from competing for Bears’ passing-down work to missing the final three games of the season with a hamstring issue. Not the best way for a special teamer to head back to free agency, especially since Chicago is once again experiencing turnover with its brain trust.
Bears declared RB Travis Homer, DB Elijah Ricks, OL Teven Jenkins, DL Zacch Pickens, LB Noah Sewell and DB Tarvarius Moore inactive for Week 17 against the Seahawks.
Homer will not be able to go for the Thursday Night Football bout against his former team. The 26-year-old sits with DeAndre Swift, Roschon Johnson and Darrynton Evans the active tailbacks for the contest.
Bears RB Travis Homer (hamstring) did not practice on Monday.
Homer returned from injured reserve in late October after battling a hamstring injury and now appears to be fighting through another one. His role with both D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson was likely to be confined to special teams, making this one of little fantasy importance.
