Colts DB Marvel Tell intends to return to the team after opting out of the 2020 season.
Indianapolis' fifth-round pick in 2019, Tell played 199 snaps (47%) on special teams in his rookie season before opting out last year. He's one of many players that will be forced to repay their $150,000 stipend upon returning.
Colts S Marvell Tell opted out of the 2020 season.
He joins teammate S Rolan Milligan, dinging the Colts' depth on the back end. Tell appeared in 13 games last season as a core special teams player. He was a fifth-round pick in 2019.
Tell posted 26 tackles and five pass breakups over 13 games in 2019.
The rookie fifth-round pick played safety at USC but converted to corner with the Colts. He was a healthy inactive on three occasions but still managed to play 24.5 percent of defensive snaps in 2019. Tell will compete for an increased role next year, but a starting gig may be tough to with the team's top-four corners returning.
