Bills elevated WR Duke Williams from the practice squad.

Williams won't be thrown to the wolves for 10 Wild Card targets again, but his presence does hint that both Stefon Diggs (oblique) and Cole Beasley (knee) could be limited if active for Saturday's Wild Card game. It's something to monitor in the morning as both players were limited for Thursday's practice.

The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia believes both Duke Williams and Robert Foster "are going to have a difficult time" making the Bills' roster.

Williams actually led the Bills in targets (10) in their Wild Card playoff loss to the Texans after he emerged as the No. 3 receiver late in the season behind John Brown and Cole Beasley. But following the trade for Stefon Diggs and selections of Gabriel Davis (fourth round) and Isaiah Hodgins (sixth round) in April, Williams and Foster face uphill battles to make the team. Andre Roberts is locked in as the return man, so that's already six wideouts. Backup slot man Isaiah McKenzie was also re-signed this offseason. Williams and Foster should both garner interest on the open market if they are let go by the Bills.

Williams had four catches (10 targets) for 49 yards in Saturday's wild-card loss to the Texans.

Williams went from being a healthy scratch for most of the season to leading the Bills with 22 targets over its last two contests. Last week's pronounced role came in a meaningless game where plenty of starters rested, but the team kept him heavily involved with the season on the line. The undrafted rookie displayed good athleticism, and he is the only Buffalo wideout checking in above six feet tall (6-foot-3, 225 pounds). Veterans John Brown and Cole Beasley are entrenched as the team's outside and slot options, but Williams has put himself in position to compete for the other outside wideout role during training camp next season.

Williams is expected to be active for Saturday's wild-card tilt against the Texans, Jenna Harner of News 4 Buffalo reports.

Williams had a productive regular-season finale, as he hauled in six of 12 targets for 108 yards. He had not suited up since Week 8 prior to that, but with the team resting several starters to keep them healthy for the playoffs, the rookie got an opportunity to shine. It looks like he did enough to earn an active designation, but he is simply expected to provide depth at wide receiver.
