Titans placed S A.J. Moore on injured reserve with an ankle injury, ending his season.
Moore has yet to officially be placed on injured reserve, but Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky confirmed his season is over. A reserve safety, Moore gets paid to be a core special teamer. 27 in December, Moore could have trouble securing a 53-man roster spot in 2023.
Titans signed S A.J. Moore, formerly of the Texans, to a one-year deal.
Moore was a special-teams star for the Texans who was overmatched in a defensive role in 2020. The Titans yet again pilfer a former Texan to work under former Texans DC Mike Vrabel. Moore should help the Titans improve on a 22nd-place special teams DVOA finish in 2021.
Moore appeared in all 16 of the Texans' regular-season games in 2019, recording 14 tackles while playing primarily on special teams.
Moore, a second-year player out of Mississippi, served as a depth safety behind Justin Reid and Tashaun Gipson in 2019. He's appeared in all 32 games since joining the Texans but has played just 19 defensive snaps during that time. He enters the final year of his contract and is expected to resume a similar role in 2020.
Moore (concussion) had five tackles (three solo) in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys.
Moore sat out the second preseason game due to the concussion, but he cleared the protocol and played 27 defensive snaps in Saturday's contest. The 23-year-old exclusively played special teams last season after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss.
