Bears agreed to terms with S Jonathan Owens on a two-year contract.
Owens becomes the second safety to join the Bears after they reached a deal with Kevin Byard earlier in the week. Owens is listed as a free safety but has also played significant snaps at strong safety, making for a versatile piece in Matt Eberflus’ defense. In his lone season with the Packers, Owens totaled 84 tackles and two TFLs. He has started 28 of the last 34 games he’s appeared in since 2022.
Owens was signed to Houston's practice squad Monday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Texans released Owens following last Thursday's win over the Colts, but they opted to bring him back after he cleared waivers Monday.
Owens was waived by the Texans on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Owens signed with the team prior to Thursday's game against the Colts and played eight snaps on special teams during his NFL debut.
Owens has been signed to the Texans' 53-man roster ahead of Thursday night's game with the Colts.
Thursday will therefore mark Owens' NFL debut. He'll provide depth in the Texans' secondary and possibly on special teams.
