Giants placed WR Robert Foster (hamstring) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The Giants initially planned to release Keelan Doss. With Foster going down in practice, they chose to hold onto Doss, nixing his release before it became official. Foster is a rotational deep threat and a special teams contributor. He didn't take the field in 2021 and hasn't caught more than three passes in a season since 2018.
Giants signed WR Robert Foster.
Dumped by the Cowboys three days ago, Foster is reuniting with coach Brian Daboll, for whom he played for at both Alabama and in Buffalo. Foster has flashed big-play juice with a career 20.1 yards per catch, but the soon-to-be 28-year-old has settled in as mostly a special teamer. Even with the Daboll connection, Foster won't be guaranteed to crack the 53-man roster.
Cowboys released WR Robert Foster.
It's a cap clearing move for the Cowboys as they try to get compliant. Foster did not play a regular season snap in 2021 and is likely only a depth option that can play special teams at this point. The Cowboys also released RB Ito Smith and DB Reggie Robinson, and the three moves combine to save about $3 million in cap space.
Washington signed WR Robert Foster, formerly of the Bills.
Foster has been a favorite on Football Twitter as a capable deep threat on the perimeter. The Alabama product has a 9.8 YPT average on 62 career targets, and those targets came from Josh Allen before he was a hipster MVP candidate. Washington's receiver depth chart is a current joke behind Terry McLaurin, so hopefully Foster can see some snaps in the second half of the season. He, of course, is not actually on the fantasy radar right now.
