Dolphins ruled out DL Zach Sieler (orbital bone) for Week 8 against the Cardinals.
Sieler reportedly fractured his orbital bone in Friday’s practice and will miss at least one week. NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports Sieler will undergo further testing to determine if surgery is required. This is a significant loss for the Dolphins’ pass rusher. Sieler leads the team in quarterback pressures (18) and ties for the team lead in NFL sacks (2.0).
Dolphins signed DL Zach Sieler to a three-year, $30.8 million extension.
The Dolphins gave Sieler $20 million guaranteed and he can make up to $35 million with incentives. It’s a nice raise for the 2018 seventh-rounder after he became a full-time starter for the first time last year. Sieler is now signed with Miami through 2026.
Dolphins DE Zach Sieler's contract is worth $8.041 million over three years.
He also gets a $1 million signing bonus. Claimed off waivers from the Ravens last year, Sieler has eight quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks in nine appearances (three starts) this season. Sieler's new deal keeps him in Miami through 2023.
Dolphins and DE Zach Sieler agreed to a contract extension.
The official terms haven't been announced, but Sieler is expected to be under contract through the 2023 season. Ozzie Newsome's last ever draft pick with Baltimore, Sieler was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins in December and has totaled 26 tackles, eight quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks as a rotational player and special teams piece across nine appearances this year. He turned 25 in September.
