Mike White completed 3-of-11 passes for 28 yards in the Bills’ Week 18 loss to the Patriots.
White played the entire fourth quarter in place of Mitchell Trubisky but wasn’t able to get anything going for the Bills. His three completions were all around the line of scrimmage, and White badly underthrew a couple of deep passes to Keon Coleman. The Bills did sign Mike White through 2025, so he will presumably enter next season in a competition for the backup job in Buffalo but today didn’t help his case.
Bills signed QB Mike White to a one-year contract extension.
White will now be under contract through the 2025 season. The long-time backup signed with the Bills practice squad this offseason after being released by the Dolphins and was recently signed off the practice squad ahead of Week 18’s game against the Patriots. White has not thrown a pass this season and has a career passing line of 2219-9-13 in 14 games played.
Bills signed QB Mike White, formerly of the Dolphins, to their practice squad.
White was one of the Dolphins’ first roster cuts of cutdown season, and now he lands with his third AFC East team over the last three seasons. He started seven games over two seasons with the Jets, passing for 2,145 yards and eight touchdowns. Only attempting six passes all of last season, White was backed into third-string duties with the Dolphins and cut. The AFC East rival Bills scoop White up to add him to their practice squad while Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky are the quarterbacks on the 53-man roster.
Dolphins released QB Mike White.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first with the report. The release of White means 2022 seventh-rounder Skylar Thompson has won the job as Tua Tagovailoa’s backup to start the season. White threw for 179 scoreless yards this preseason while completing a dismal 46.5 percent of his passes. A seven-year veteran of the league, White has thrown for 2,219 yards, nine touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in 14 career games. He’s a serviceable backup who will likely get a shot elsewhere before the start of next season and could still be brought back as Miami’s emergency quarterback given his familiarity with the system.
