Colts declared DE Genard Avery, QB Sam Ehlinger, DE Adam Gotsis, WR Anthony Gould, OT Bernhard Reimann inactive for Week 9 against the Vikings.
No real surprised here regarding the team’s inactives list, although we do get a change under center for the Colts as Anthony Richardson retreats to backup veteran Joe Flacco. The Colts seam intent on making a playoff push in the second half of the season and head coach Shane Steichen indicated this week that Flacco gives the team the best chance to win games.
Colts agreed to terms with EDGE Genard Avery on a one-year contract.
Avery signed with the Colts last offseason but suffered LCL and meniscus injuries in training camp and was placed on reserve, ending his season. The veteran pass-rusher last played for the Bucs in 2022 but saw most of his reps on special teams. He will return to Indy as a role-player for the 2024 season.
Colts DE Genard Avery will undergo season-ending knee surgery.
Avery suffered injuries to his LCL and meniscus and will go on injured reserve. The veteran defensive end joined the Colts on a one-year deal this offseason after spending 2022 with the Buccaneers. Last season, Avery appeared in nine games, totaling five tackles and one sack.
Steelers signed LB Genard Avery, formerly of the Eagles, to a one-year contract.
Avery moved to linebacker last year after playing a limited role as a defensive end in 2020. The change nearly doubled his weekly snap count and juiced his tackles numbers, but Pro Football Focus still graded him as a below-average linebacker. He totaled 43 tackles, one sack, and four TFLs. Avery will fight for a part-time role in Pittsburgh.
