Carlos Hyde missed Wednesday's practice because of a concussion and could be out for the Jaguars' Week 15 game against the. If he does, the Jags would be down to just Dare Ogunbowale behind James Robinson on the active roster. If signed, Johnson would likely play Hyde's role as the direct backup to Robinson.

With Aaron Jones sidelined 1-to-2 weeks and third-stringer Kylin Hill out for the season, the Packers are in dire need of running back depth behind A.J. Dillon. Johnson has bounced around the league over the past couple of seasons and could immediately join Patrick Taylor as a complementary piece to Dillon. Johnson still wouldn't be fantasy-relevant if he signs with the Packers – he hasn't recorded an NFL touch since Week 16 of 2020 – and it wouldn't have a noticeable impact on Dillon's outlook either.

The team brought in free agents Kerryon Johnson, Rodney Smith and Josh Adams after Alvin Kamara went to the medical tent for a brief period in Sunday's loss to Atlanta. Underhill adds that he's heard "whispers" Kamara "might have gotten a little banged up" in that game, too. Mark Ingram would surge as a low-end RB1 against the Titans no matter who is signed behind him if Kamara is in fact ruled out for Week 10. 

Johnson was available on the 53-man roster for two games but failed to record a single snap while Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) was sidelined. Jordan Matthews was signed to the practice squad in his place.
